About Maps and data
Indicators are organised within the atlas by the following themes:
- Demographics
- Pregnancy and early years
- Maternity matters
- School aged children
- Young People
- Children with acute or additional health needs
- Workforce and spend
- National indicator set
- European atlas
Within each theme there are a number of Data Views. A Data View is a pre-defined collection of indicators. As well as viewing all indicators within a theme in one atlas you can choose to view just the indicators within a particular Data View (for example within demographics you can view all data or just population estimates).
If you have a suggestion for new themes or data views please let us know using the feedback form.
Using the Data Selector you can display Data Views either as tables or interactive atlases - example screens are shown below.

Table View: Provides a table view of all indicators allowing you to mix and match specific indicators of interest, sort them by a specific indicator and download either the current table view or all indicators in the Data View in different formats.
Single Map View: Provides an interactive view containing a thematic map, table and chart allowing you to understand the spatial patterns and temporal trends for a specific indicator of interest.
Double Map View: Provides an interactive view containing two thematic maps allowing you to compare patterns and corresponding relationships between two indicators for the same area type.
new! Advanced Data Selector allows you to create a custom table or atlas composed of specific geographies and indicators of interest. The process involves a series of steps where you select:
- the area type (eg PCTs)
- the areas of interest
- the indicators of interest.
